TengoChat

Child safety standards

TengoChat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards apply to TengoChat everywhere: on the website and in the Android app.

For adults only

TengoChat is only for people 18 and older. Children cannot have an account, and we close any account we learn belongs to someone younger. Some features ask for an age check first: a short camera check, or a photo of an ID that a person reviews.

What is never allowed

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, whether real, drawn or made by AI. Any sexual or romantic content involving someone under 18, or a character described as a child or teenager, including in role-play. Grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any attempt to use TengoChat to find, contact or harm a child.

How we prevent it

  • Every companion is an adult. The AI is told so, and a companion’s age, when one is given, is 21 or more.
  • Messages to and from companions are checked for sexual content involving minors. It is blocked every time, and no setting, plan or level of the app can turn this check off.
  • Photos people send, and photos used for a companion’s face, are checked. A photo of anyone who may be under 18 is refused.
  • Every block is recorded for our safety team.

How to report

  • In the app: press Report under any message in a chat. It goes straight to our safety team.
  • By email: [email protected]. Tell us what you saw and where. We review every report, and reports about a child come first.
  • If a child is in danger right now, call your local emergency number (911 in the United States).
  • You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to the CyberTipline of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678, or, outside the United States, to your country’s hotline at inhope.org.

What we do

When we find or are told about CSAM or the exploitation of a child, we remove the content, close the accounts involved, keep the evidence the law requires, report it to NCMEC’s CyberTipline as United States law requires (18 U.S.C. 2258A), and work with law enforcement. Where another country’s law asks for a report to its authorities, we make it.

The law

We follow the child safety laws that apply to TengoChat, including the duty of online services in the United States to report CSAM to NCMEC.
